Position Precis:
Brightshores Health System (Brightshores), Wiarton Hospital Site, provides essential services to its rural population in a catchment area of approximately 12,000 residents. The Level 2 referral centre, with state-of-the-art diagnostics including CT and MRI, is located in 25 minutes away in Owen Sound.
The Wiarton Hospital Site is the newest in the Corporation of Brightshores – built in 1994. Physicians have their practices located in a clinic adjacent to the Hospital.
Qualifications:
CCFP or licence to practice medicine in Ontario.

Wiarton has always been known as the Gateway to the Bruce Peninsula and the home of Wiarton Willie, Canada’s only albino weather predicting groundhog. Wiarton is cradled on all landward sides by the unique and beautiful cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment and offers a variety of amenities including an arena, outdoor swimming pool. Beach, Marinas, Library, tennis courts, auditorium, elementary/ secondary school, parks, baseball diamonds, a diverse commercial sector, nursing and retirement homes, churches, and so on.

About the Family Medicine Department:
Each of Brightshores’ six hospitals has a family medicine department. There are independent, group and clinic models of practice across the corporation. In the rural hospitals, family physicians provide 24/7 emergency coverage and GP anesthesia in three hospitals. The urban hospital in Owen Sound includes a small number of family physicians who continue with emergency and obstetrics practices, in addition to their office practices and inpatient care.
