Position Precis:
The Department of Medicine is looking to grow its complement of full-time and part-time physicians across various specialties. We are exploring cross appointment opportunities with related Departments such as Pathology (Laboratory Medicine), Hospitalist Medicine and Medical Imaging, in support of future clinical program planning.
Co-design your ideal practice profile with us! From an outpatient longitudinal care practice to urgent/emergent inpatient care, both with shared on-call duties, we want to hear your ideas around innovative models of care.
Typically, permanent practices are based in Owen Sound, with specialty clinic opportunities available across Grey and Bruce. Hospital duties include Emergency Department consultations, service to the acute inpatient units including participation in the Department of Medicine on-call service, MRP and consulting care. Service opportunities with our Stroke Prevention Clinic and Cardiac Rehab Program are also available.
Current specialty opportunities include: Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Internal Medicine, Hematology, Geriatrics, Neurology, Respirology and Critical Care. Specialists in Infectious Disease and Rheumatology are also encouraged to contact us to discuss local opportunities as well.
Qualifications:
Interested candidates must hold applicable FRCPC designation
Independent license to practice in Ontario
Consideration may be given to Cardiologists and/or Critical Care trained General Internists if interested in providing ICU Coverage
Remuneration:

Brightshores Health System operates six hospitals in the Grey Bruce region serving a population of over 170,000. The Owen Sound hospital is a Level 2 regional referral centre, offering a full range of specialty services through the Departments of Anaesthesia, Medical Imaging, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Oncology, Hospitalist Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Pathology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery (ENT, General/Thoracic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology).
Thriving rural hospitals are also located in Lion’s Head, Markdale, Meaford, Southampton and Wiarton, servicing a range of ambulatory, in-patient and emergency needs. Another five hospitals located within the region also refer to our specialists.
Facilities
With 24-hour labs, excellent specialty back-up and comprehensive diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, PACS capability), our regional centre is exceptionally well equipped. The new Markdale hospital slated for completion in 23/24 will include modern ambulatory care and procedure room space.

About the Medicine Department:
The Service currently has eleven full or part time members. Subspecialties include Cardiology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Respirology and Gastroenterology. There is a significant volume of cardiac patients in addition to a varied general internist practice.
