WAGE RATE: $24.414 – $26.313

Reporting to the Manager, the Department Secretary provides administrative and clerical support to the Manager, to Spiritual Care Providers and Volunteers in the Spiritual Care Department. The Department Secretary is responsible for the development and maintenance of electronic databases, compiling statistics, coordinating patient referrals, reception duties and general office support. The Spiritual Care Program provides Spiritual Care support to patients, families, staff and volunteers as requested through individual visits, group facilitation, educational sessions, and collaboration with various faith communities and indigenous communities to meet individualized Spiritual Care needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 with relevant experience in administrative/secretarial experience and/or post-secondary business/office administration diploma
  • Typing of 45 w.p.m. (to be tested)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (to be tested)
  • Knowledge of Brightshores computer systems including CERNER/Powerform, SPOK
  • Ability to professionally handle sensitive correspondence in complete confidence
  • Sensitivity to the nature of Spiritual Care
  • Awareness and support of diverse cultures, and multi-faith communities
  • Ability to prioritize workload in accordance with client needs and timelines
  • Experience with all aspects of administrative services; e.g. preparing agendas, taking meeting minutes, development and completion of reports/charts, policy and procedures/department manuals
  • Ability to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Advocates and supports the culture of excellence in patient care and demonstrates an understanding of how Spiritual Care is an essential service in the overall provision of patient care
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record

Preferred
