Reporting to the Director Quality and Safety, the Nurse Clinician promotes evidence based care that leads to high quality patient outcomes. This role supports and facilitates evidence based practice by leading the development of clinical order sets and care pathways. Creating a process for regular audit and evaluation, as well as leading and participating in quality improvement activities are other important aspects of this role. In addition the Nurse Clinician supports the implementation of new technology systems and acts as a bridge between IT and clinicians. Additionally, the successful candidate will lead and coordinate Brightshores Committees and working groups related to order sets, clinical informatics and other groups as assigned.

A key focus of this role will be to support and facilitate the development of standards, practices and educational events that drive evidence informed practice.

The Nurse Clinician will demonstrate leadership by exhibiting strong collaboration skills, change management skills, and initiative. Adult learning principles will be utilized in combination with clinical knowledge to ensure staff is provided with the appropriate level of skill and knowledge to provide the best possible patient care with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:

Required

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or BScN with relevant experience
  • Current Registration as an RN from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Completion of a certificate course or significant experience in Clinical Informatics
  • Maximum of 5 years of Clinical Experience
  • Advanced computer proficiency required in Cerner applications and demonstrated understanding of the complexity and integrations of Cerner system and how it can be applied in a clinical environment
  • Strong background and demonstrated experience in leading initiatives that introduce new technology into the clinical environment.
  • Relevant experience in providing clinical teaching and implementing evidence informed practice
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative practice model with a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability in change management and quality improvement practices
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of Principles of Adult Education
  • Experience in utilizing and demonstrated understanding of the Clinical Documentation Platforms
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
