Reporting to the Food Services Supervisor(s), the Diet Technician is responsible for processing diet order changes, preparing tally sheets and menus for patient meal service. The Diet Technician is responsible for updating the patient food item/purchasing/inventory information to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Computrition software system.

The Diet Technician works with suppliers and distributors to source suitable products for patient menus/nourishments etc. Develops and maintains up to date information on the nutritional analysis of the patient menu in consultation with the Registered Dietitians and Corporate Menu Committee. The Diet Technician is available to provide assistance with menu and product knowledge to Food Services Workers/Cooks and Lead Hands at all Brightshores Hospital sites.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

Required

  • Successful completion of a 2 year Nutrition and Food Service Management Diploma and/or 2 year Dietetic Technician Diploma and/or equivalent education in Nutrition
  • Available to work all shifts
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making and organizational skills
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record

Preferred

  • Recent experience working as a Diet Technician
  • Experience with Computrition Software
  • Member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM)
