STATUS: FULL-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. END DATE NOVEMBER 2025)
WAGE RATE: $38.36 – $48.88

Reporting to the Manager of Allied Health, the Recreation Therapist is responsible for providing therapeutic recreation services to patients with the goal of helping patients gain independence, reintegrate in their community, and pursue leisure and recreational activities that are meaningful and satisfying to them. The Recreation Therapist collaborates with the patient and the inter-professional team to deliver an innovative rehabilitation service to help patients and their caregivers reach their optimal level of recovery.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

Required

  • University Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies with Therapeutic Recreation Focus or University Degree in Human Sciences or Services with a Post Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation
  • Current registration with Therapeutic Recreation of Ontario (TRO)
  • Clinical expertise and experience with medically complex patients is an asset
  • Ability to assess, plan and implement a personalized approach to service delivery within the guidelines of the Therapeutic Recreation Service Model in accordance with TRO standards of practice and the Ontario Stroke Network core competencies
  • Excellent professional judgment, conflict resolution and interpersonal communication skills with patients, families, team members, students and community partners
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, sound judgment, analytical thinking and initiative
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Available for a 7-day rotation and site rotation
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
