WAGE RATE: $39.07 – $56.00

Reporting to Manager of Outpatient Mental Health Services, the Registered Nurse will implement and monitor services to meet the needs of individuals with significant mental health issues following Recovery Principles. The RN must be able to function independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team and to work cooperatively with multiple service providers.  This position requires travel throughout the catchment area (Grey and Bruce Counties) to deliver programs and to meet the needs of clients.  Responsibility for a case management caseload is required.  This position is initially targeted to work in our Assertive Community Treatment Team with the understanding that the RN is a member of Outpatient Mental Health Services and as such may be assigned to another program as needed.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required

  • Registration with the Ontario College of Nurses as a Registered Nurse
  • CNA Certification in Psychiatry and Mental Health Nursing
  • 5 years recent experience working with S.M.I. population in outpatient setting
  • Current CPI training
  • CPR basic certification
  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of the Recovery Model
  • Knowledge of current psychiatric medications
  • Psycho/social and mental status assessment skills
  • Experience in medication delivery, administration and monitoring
  • Ability to provide a wide range of counselling, support, advocacy and education services to clients, their family members and others of significance in the client’s life
  • Ability to communicate positively and professionally with family members, community providers and physicians
  • Knowledge of and experienced in Cognitive Behavior Therapy
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Act and familiarity with DSM
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Possession of a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and personal vehicle
  • Ability to work co-operatively in a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Knowledge of psychosocial rehab model
  • Ability to work all shifts, including weekends; ability for multi-site coverage when required
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record

Preferred

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing
