WAGE RATE: $34.943 – $35.967 

Reporting to the Manager Surgical Services, the responsibility of the registered practical nurse is the promotion of health, assessment of, and the provision of care of, by supportive, preventative and therapeutic, measures for patients requiring pre-operative assessment and education.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Ontario College of Nurses registration
• Current BCLS
• Successful completion of Post Anaesthetic Course within the last 3 years
• Physical Assessment Course or equivalent
• 2 years recent acute care surgical nursing experience including adult and pediatric patients
• 2 years recent Day Surgery experience
• Broad knowledge of all the surgical subspecialties and the surgical procedures performed at Brightshores OS OR
• Knowledge of the principles of adult education
• Excellent interviewing and assessment skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
• Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to manage multiple demands and changing priorities in a dynamic setting
• Demonstrated computer skills in MS Outlook and Cerner applications (Powerchart and Surginet) or equivalent
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
