Owen Sound, ON – June 7, 2024 – Brightshores Health System is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art Wellness and Recovery Centre – Mental Health & Addictions. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place today, attended by distinguished guests including Ann Ford, President & CEO of Brightshores Health System, the Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Sylvia Jones, Honourable Minister Michael Tibollo, Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, and Rick Byers, MPP Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound.

The Centre is a 45-bed facility that is a significant expansion of our regional health care services and provides a safe environment for individuals in need of support and management of their substance use and mental health concerns. The treatment philosophy focuses on providing holistic care that will address all social determinants of health and stages of change.

The centre offers unique cultural and identity features, including Indigenous art and sacred spaces, access to Elders, and beds designated for Indigenous and transgender clients. Clients’ treatment plans will be tailored to their specific needs. Programming offers a wide variety of services to ensure clients can be supported at each stage of change.

Board Vice Chair, Deb Pope shares that “it is through partnerships and community efforts that we are here today, and I am confident this facility and the dedicated staff who work here will make a real difference in the lives of many. Congratulations to the entire Grey Bruce community!”
