The Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for enhancing Brightshores’ online presence and visual communication. This role combines expertise in website content development and management, social media strategy and execution, graphic design, photography and videography in order to maximize the impact of the hospital’s communication activities for the diverse audiences the hospital serves. The position requires creativity, technical expertise, and a collaborative approach to storytelling and brand management. Our ideal candidate has 2-3 years of related experience in a healthcare or non-profit setting, exemplifies a connection to the hospital’s mission, vision and values, as well as a commitment to contributing as a true team player.
Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:
Required
- Degree or Diploma in Digital Media, Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or other
related field. - 3-5 years of experience in digital communications, graphic design and social media management,
preferably in a healthcare or non-profit setting. - Advanced knowledge of web design and coding. Working knowledge of Drupal is an asset, but not
mandatory. - Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills with an understanding of web accessibility requirements (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act – AODA).
- Knowledge of SEO best practices, digital marketing and analytics tools (Google Analytics).
- Advanced graphic design skills using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Experience managing social media accounts, using analytics tools and preparing reports.
- Skilled at photography and videography, including video and editing software.
- Understanding of, and commitment to, equity, diversity and inclusion in communication.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet competing
deadlines. - Project management and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word, PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Possession of a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and personal vehicle; willingness to travel
throughout Grey and Bruce Counties. - Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
