Each year at Brightshores Health System our teams prepare and present their projects to be considered for a Quality Award. These awards celebrate the creativity and clinical excellence of our teams at Brightshores.
Quality Award recipients are selected based on the project’s success, which is measured against Brightshores’ strategic pillars.

Transitional Care Unit
Brightshores introduced a Transitional Care Unit (TCU) in 2023.
This unit is designed to care for patients who no longer require acute care but are in transition to another healthcare facility to care for their needs.
Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE)
The Brightshores’ Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) team set out to enhance their coverage providing urgent care to survivors.
The expansion of the SANE coverage ensures that staff are on-site, ready to compassionately respond to patients when needed.
Peer and Mental Health Support
The Peer and Family Support for Mental Health and Addiction program offers patients and their families a direct line of support throughout their treatment journey.
Peer and Family workers support clients and advocate for their care needs. This program keeps people centred care at the forefront of treatment plans.
Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy
Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) is a form of dialysis that is designed to be gentler on patients.
Previously, patients had to travel to tertiary care centres to receive CRRT. Introducing this service at Brightshores keeps patients close to home.
